Huilatherium 3

Reconstrucción del esqueleto de Huilatherium, un gran herbívoro de pezuña de la familia Leontiniidae (emparentados con los toxodontes), animales ramoneadores muy extendidos en el Oligoceno pero con solo dos especies en el Mioceno: Colpodon y Huilatherium. Esta especie de Colombia presenta grandes dientes frontales en forma de colmillo.

Actualización (22/05/2023): El diagrama del esqueleto necesitaba una revisión desde 0, por lo que aquí está ahora, con cuello y patas más largos, con base en los restos disponibles de Taubatherium (el cual en al menos algunos análisis es el pariente más cercano de Huilatherium) y de Scarrittia. También he corregido los dientes frontales dado que Huilatherium solo tenía un par incisivos superiores e inferiores en forma de colmillo en sus dientes frontales; la parte delantera de la mandíbula se basa en un espécimen aún sin describir. Se han encontrado elementos de la mano y pie, pero no hay fotografías o ilustraciones de estos, por,o que solo se usaron las descripciones vagamente.

English: Skeletal reconstruction of Huilatherium, a large hoofed plant-eater of the family Leontiniidae (closely related to toxodontids), browsing animals that was very widespread in the Oligocene, but with only two species in the Miocene: Colpodon and Huilatherium. This Colombian species has large tusk-like front teeth.

Update (22/05/2023): The skeletal needs a complete rework, so here it is, with a longer neck and legs, based in the remains available of Taubatherium (that in some analysis is the closest relative of Huilatherium) and Scarrittia. Also I correct the front teeth since that Huilatherium only had a single pair of upper and lower tusk-like incisors in its front teeth; the front part of the mandible is based in a still undescribed specimen. There are elements of the hand and feet, but there are no photographs or illustrations of them, so I just use the descriptions loosely.
