Description

I must made this before... this is a quick reconstruction of Lycopsis padillai, the most recent named species of Lycopsis, a relatively large sparassodont from the Miocene of Guajira, in northern Colombia. This fossil, a partial left maxilla with molars (in brown in the image above) proof that Lycopsis was a very succesful sparassodont: other species, L. longirostrus, has been found in La Venta. Colombia (where comes a very complete skeleton: commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fil…), and other two, L. torresi and L. viverensis, from the Early and Late Miocene of Argentina, respectively. The skull used for this image is based in the complete Lycopsis longirostrus.
